Day 8 - Boyd's Cove, Twillingate Island, Gander - part 1

Today was a busy day.  It was our turn in the front seat of the bus...yes!!! Only thing was though...it was a rainy morning!!  First stop was Boyd's Cove where we learned more about the Beothuk people.  Next stop was Twillingate Island, which is one of Newfoundland's oldest and most interesting fishing community.  Hannes and I actually know someone who lives here!  We didn't know where her house was so we couldn't drop in!!  By the time we got here it had stopped raining...yay!!!  In the afternoon after lunch we toured through the oldest wood church in the province.  It was very beautiful!  Later in the afternoon we headed up to TCH to Terra Nova National Park, where we spent two nights at the Terra Nova Golf Resort.

Here are some photos of this adventure:

Our view for the first part of the morning!

A beautiful drawing of the Beothuk people.

Boyd's Cove - they opened early just for our group.

Ron, my fellow photog and Hannes, ace videographer.

On the way into Twillingate Island.

They weren't just kidding about this.  The cliffs were massive!

A view looking at the magnificent cliffs.

The fishing boat looks so small!

Just loving the rock formations and the water.

Gorgeous lichen on rocks.

Nice from above!

Iceberg!  I spotted this on the bus as we were driving down the highway.

Those white specs are gulls!

And another lighthouse!

Great recycling idea for old lobster traps.  I loved it!

 I love socks!

They love fudge here!

I love the colour of this place.  Guess, what, it's for sale!!!

Some of the gang after lunch (in the blue building).
